Toshikazu Sugaya, who expects to be acquitted soon in a retrial over a 1990 murder case, will start a new life in his hometown of Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture, by year’s end, sources close to him said Saturday.

Sugaya, 63, has already submitted notification of his impending move to the municipal office, telling acquaintances, “I hope I can welcome the new year in Ashikaga,” according to the sources.
