PADANG, Indonesia (Kyodo) A Japanese relief team arrived in the Indonesian city of Padang on Friday to help search for people buried by rubble in Wednesday's powerful earthquake.

The 85-member team and three sniffer dogs arrived on a chartered flight from Jakarta after flying in from Tokyo earlier in the day.

One of the members said it is not clear how long they will stay in Padang or to which part of the city they will be assigned.

The team includes personnel trained in search and rescue and medical aid.
