Eight people were thrown overboard when two boats collided Saturday afternoon on the Edo River separating Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture, police and firefighters said.

All eight were rescued after the accident, which occurred at around 3:50 p.m. Two men and one woman were injured but were not in a life-threatening condition, they said.

One of the boats sank following the collision, which occurred around 30 meters downstream from the Ichikawa Bridge, which connects Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, with Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture.
