Finance Minister Kaoru Yosano voiced concern Tuesday that the Democratic Party of Japan may win a landslide in Sunday's election.

Yosano said the Diet could effectively be ruled only by what has been the main opposition party starting next month unless the Liberal Democratic Party can turn its fortunes around with only a few days left to go.

"Without exception, (the LDP) is in a difficult situation in each constituency," Yosano told a news conference. "My constituency (in Tokyo) is no exception. I see the DPJ's angry waves smashing Tokyo."
