OSAKA (Kyodo) Panasonic Corp. and Sumitomo Chemical Co. are considering a business tieup in producing organic electroluminescent panels for use in next-generation flat televisions, industry sources said Friday.

The move is aimed at cutting development costs as well as prompting product commercialization, and the two companies are also hoping the partnership will lead to high-volume production, the sources said.

OEL is an electronic material for use in next-generation flat TVs to follow the liquid crystal display and plasma display televisions.
