The government named a former chief chamberlain to the Crown Prince as the new ambassador to Luxembourg on Tuesday, as well as new envoys to Finland, Estonia and Ecuador, effective the same day.

Takashi Suetsuna, 60, who retired from the National Police Agency in March, was the first NPA official to assume the Imperial post when he served Crown Prince Naruhito from September 2005 to last month, when he returned to the NPA for retirement.

Hiroshi Maruyama, 60, a former transport ministry bureaucrat and ex-deputy chairman of the Institute for Transport Policy Studies, is now ambassador to Finland and Estonia. Osamu Imai, 59, an ex-consul general of Milan, was named ambassador to Ecuador.
