A political organization affiliated with former farm minister Mineichi Iwanaga neglected to list ¥60 million in donations it received from a religious group in its political funds reports, sources said Friday.

The organization received ¥30 million from the religious group, based in Koka, Shiga Prefecture, in both 2003 and 2005, but did not list the money in the reports, the sources said.

After winning a House of Representatives seat in 1996, Iwanaga, a 67-year-old member of the Liberal Democratic Party, served as agriculture, forestry and fisheries minister in 2005 in the Cabinet of then Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

Last September, Iwanaga announced he would retire from politics due to health problems.
