The government compiled model cases for preserving and expanding employment Friday so municipalities can refer to them and boost efforts to improve deteriorating labor conditions as bankruptcies and job cuts continue to rise.

“I would like you to help local governments undertake their initiatives,” Prime Minister Taro Aso said at a meeting of the emergency employment creation panel, which includes Cabinet members. “We have put together ideas, and now, so much depends on how local governments use the allocations earmarked for employment measures.”
