Seiyu Ltd. is marketing a business suit for women comprising a jacket, skirt and pants for ¥5,800, nearly 60 percent lower than the price of comparable products.

The low-priced ensemble, which went on sale Tuesday, is aimed at boosting consumer sentiment battered by the recession, officials at the Japanese unit of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said.

The outfit, under Wal-Mart's George brand, is made in China and shipped directly to Seiyu, making the low price possible. Comparable clothing the company has sold previously cost about ¥14,000.
