T&D Holdings Inc. said Thursday that total insurance contracts concluded by its three life insurance subsidiaries as of March 31 fell 0.6 percent from a year earlier to 59.90 trillion yen.
Insurance contracts fell 0.7 percent to 39.73 trillion yen for Daido Life Insurance Co. and 5.3 percent to 2.52 trillion yen for T&D Financial Life Insurance Co. But Taiyo Life Insurance Co. boosted contracts 0.3 percent to 17.64 trillion yen.
T&D Holdings said its consolidated net profit for the 2006 business year ended March 31 jumped 9.1 percent from the previous year to 38.77 billion yen despite an extra loss of 3.3 billion yen including payments to cover past failures to pay due insurance claims.
