Toshiba Corp. said Thursday it is targeting a group operating profit of 480 billion yen on sales of 9.5 trillion yen by business 2010, up from 250 billion yen in profit on 7 trillion yen sales set in business 2006 by increasing sales overseas.

Under its medium-term business plan, Toshiba will aim to make 56 percent of its total sales overseas in fiscal 2009, up from 49 percent in the year through March 31.

By strengthening its foothold in North America, China and other fast-growing Asian economies, the Tokyo-based company said it will try to bring up its overseas sales of electronic devices such as semiconductors and displays to 56 percent in business 2009, up from 50 percent in business 2006.
