NAGOYA (Kyodo) Central Japan International Airport Co., operator of Chubu Centrair International Airport, has decided that Toyota Motor Corp. Vice President Yoshimi Inaba will replace Yukihisa Hirano as president of the airport authority in late June, sources said Tuesday.

Inaba, 61, would be the second person to take the airport operator's helm after serving as a Toyota executive.

Hirano, a former Toyota board member, leaves in June when his term as president of the airport operator based in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, expires. Aichi is home to the auto giant.

Because of Inaba's vast experience in marketing Toyota cars overseas, the airport management believes he can help clear such important goals as inviting more airlines to serve on international routes.

Hirano, 69, has helped give the airport a stable management foundation by bringing in Toyota's effective management techniques, the sources said.

Chubu Centrair International Airport opened in February 2005.
