The government said Tuesday it will provide relief goods for about 10,000 people in Sri Lanka who have been affected by the intense fighting between the military and rebel Tamil Tigers, the Foreign Ministry said.

The provision of goods, in accordance with a request by the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, includes sleeping mats, vinyl sheets and water containers, the ministry said.
