Kagawa Gov. Takeki Manabe was re-elected Sunday, defeating a lone challenger.

Manabe, 66, was supported by the Liberal Democratic Party and New Komeito. His challenger was Joji Tatara, head of a nonprofit organization and who was backed by the Japanese Communist Party.

The focus of the campaign was on whether voters support Manabe’s efforts to improve prefectural finances.
