Two people were killed Saturday afternoon when their car collided head-on with a sightseeing bus in Moriyama, Shiga Prefecture, police said.

Killed in the 4:35 p.m. collision were Shozo Ikeda, 64, and his 34-year-old daughter, Kazuko, from Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, the police said.

Ikeda's wife was taken to a hospital for treatment, along with about 30 people on the bus who suffered minor injuries, the police said.

They said the sightseeing bus was carrying 48 passengers, as well as the driver and a tour conductor.

An investigation found that the accident occurred after the car crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.

The bus was one of four Kokusai Kogyo sightseeing buses that left the city of Osaka in the morning for a daylong tour of Shiga and Gifu prefectures.
