CHIBA (Kyodo) The Chiba District Court on Monday dismissed a demand by four residents of Chiba Prefecture that they be removed from the national residency registry network, which they claim violates their human rights.

Presiding Judge Takeo Koiso also rejected the plaintiffs' demand that the state, the prefecture and other authorities involved pay them 110,000 yen each in damages.

The database, known as Juki Net, which was completed in August 2002, contains personal information on residents and makes it available to the central and local governments.
