A 57-year-old man who was living in Tokyo with 11 women and a baby and arrested on suspicion of using threats to persuade a young woman to join his group, has confessed to resorting to pressure tactics, police said Thursday.
Hirohito Shibuya, who was arrested Jan. 26 on suspicion of threatening a 20-year-old woman in October, was quoted as telling police, "It was to intimidate her to make her live with me."
Shibuya, an unemployed fortuneteller living in Higashi-Yamato, Tokyo, had at first denied any wrongdoing, claiming, "I just told her what appeared in a dream," according to police.
A stun gun and tear gas spray were seized from Shibuya's house.
