Two people died Sunday after their jet ski collided with a motorboat off the city of Toyama, police said.
The pair were identified as Tadayuki Miyamoto, 33, of Osawano, Toyama Prefecture, and 34-year-old Rumiko Nogami of Toyama city.
According to investigations, the accident occurred around noon some 20 meters off Iwasehama beach on Toyama Bay. The two were taken to a nearby hospital but died soon after.
Local rescue officials said more than 10 jet skis were plying the waters in the area at the time the accident occurred, and coast guard officials were questioning the people who were on the motorboat to determine the cause of the collision.
