Police have arrested an executive of a phone-answering service in Tokyo and three other people on suspicion of opening and selling bank accounts to gangsters and others.

The police on Friday identified the four as Tadaaki Ogimura, 41, manager of Fureai Tomonokai; Masahiro Ito, 53, a taxi driver from Tokyo's Nerima Ward; and two other Fureai Tomonokai employees.

The police said Ogimura and the employees opened the bank accounts with the intention of selling them to people who are unable or reluctant to open an account in person. Ito opened accounts in his own name in September with the same intent, they said.
