The policies adopted by the Liberal Democratic Party are "almost fully in line with" those advocated by the Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren), the business lobby said Wednesday, effectively urging its member companies to increase donations to the party.

But the opposition Democratic Party of Japan differs from Nippon Keidanren on such issues as environmental protection and employment policies, the federation said in its policy assessment that will serve as criteria for political donations by member companies.

Nippon Keidanren will urge member companies to make donations based on its policy "grading" of the two parties. It did not release assessments of parties other than the LDP and the DPJ.
