An Indonesian court sentenced a Japanese businessman to 10 years in prison Wednesday for killing an Indonesian university student who had been his mistress.

The Bekasi District Court outside Jakarta found Setsuya Chikushi, 48, guilty of strangling Yunita Indah Sari in the back seat of his car June 8.

"I accept the sentence," Chikushi told Kyodo News after the verdict was read. "I don't want to appeal."

Chikushi, a company adviser, admitted killing Yunita, who had been his mistress for two years.

He said the 21-year-old woman was "terrorizing" him by threatening to tell his Indonesian wife about their relationship if he did not get a divorce and marry her.

Shortly after the murder, Chikushi rented a house in suburban Jakarta's Tangerang and buried her body in a corner of the front yard.

He was arrested June 14 after the owner of the house, who noticed a foul odor and found part of the yard had been dug up and covered with new soil and plants, alerted police.

Chikushi, hailing from Kumamoto Prefecture, has lived in Indonesia for about five years.
