A 50-year-old male high school teacher in Osaka Prefecture was reprimanded by the prefectural education board Monday for repeated physical abuse of his students.

Board officials said the physical education teacher grabbed a third-year female student by the hair and threw her against a storage closet during a basketball class in July. The student had expressed dissatisfaction over the class, and the teacher ordered her to go home. The attack came as the student tried to leave, according to the board.

In December, the teacher slapped a second-year youth who was wearing a hat during a yearend exam. The blow cut the inside of the teen’s mouth, board officials said.

In May, the teacher struck a third-year female student in the head when she tried to go home without cleaning the classroom.
