Two men stole about 12 million yen Monday from a female employee of a construction firm in Tokai, Ibaraki Prefecture, as she was transferring salary payments, police said.

According to police, the pair made off with a paper bag containing the money immediately after attacking the woman at around 12:55 p.m. as she got out of her car in the firm's parking lot.

The 35-year-old woman, who suffered minor injuries, had picked up the salaries for about 30 employees from an executive's home nearby, police said.

The robbers, apparently in their 30s, covered their faces with black scarves, police added.
