A Japan Air System plane made an emergency landing Wednesday at Nagoya airport due to engine trouble, airport officials said.

No injuries were reported.

Flight 423, an MD-90 en route to Kumamoto with 71 passengers and crew, landed at 11.15 a.m. after an unusual sound and vibrations were detected in its right engine shortly after takeoff, JAS said.

The airport closed its runway for two minutes and readied fire engines before the landing.

JAS merged operations with Japan Airlines last month under holding company Japan Airlines System Corp.
