A 21-year-old company employee was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of killing a 6-year-old boy in a hit-and-run accident on a road in the city of Toyoda, Aichi Prefecture, police said.
According to investigations, Ikuya Miyagi was knocked off his bicycle by a car around 8:15 a.m.
As police began investigating, Masao Kamiya returned to the scene of the accident accompanied by his employer and confessed to being the driver and to fleeing the scene out of fright.
Police said Kamiya was on his way to work when he hit the boy. He explained the incident to his employer when he arrived at the company. They returned to the scene together in Kamiya's car, police said.
