OSAKA -- A couple were found stabbed to death in their Osaka apartment Thursday after their 5-year-old son called for an ambulance, local police said, speculating that the case may be rooted in a domestic dispute. They were identified as Hisashi Yoshida, 34, and his wife, Chiaki, 33.

According to investigators, the boy called for an ambulance at around 7:45 a.m., saying his father and mother were "all bloody" in their apartment in Miyakojima Ward.

Police said they found the couple dead in their bedroom, with the husband lying on top of his wife. The man had stab wounds to his chest and back, while the woman had similar wounds in her chest. A fruit knife was on the floor near the bodies, they added.

There were no signs of forced entry into the apartment and the flat did not appear to have been ransacked, police said.

Investigators added that they have learned that the couple often fought, and said they suspect the two stabbed each other while jostling for the knife during an argument.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The Yoshidas lived with their son and a 5-month-old daughter, police said.
