Toyota Motor Corp. is the most popular company among college seniors preparing to enter the workforce after they graduate in March, according to a survey released Wednesday by a research arm of job information publisher Recruit Co.

It is the first time that Toyota is the most sought-after company, the Works Institute said, pointing out that college students say Toyota has stable earnings and a global sales strategy.

Ranked second is travel agency JTB Corp. and third is advertising firm Hakuhodo Inc., according to the survey of 17,000 seniors.

It is the first time that a carmaker has topped the list in the 40 years the institute has conducted the survey.

Sony Corp., last year's No. 1, came in at seventh this year, while NTT DoCoMo Inc., No. 4 last year, plummeted to 22nd.
