KYOTO – An explosion occurred early Friday near an elementary school in Yawata, Kyoto Prefecture, but no one was hurt, police said without stating the cause of the blast.
Five manhole covers on the premises of Yawata No. 4 Elementary School and two manhole covers outside the school were blown off in the blast. One of the flying covers smashed a glass door at the school, police said.
