Japan Air Commuter Co. announced Sunday that it will stop the flight service connecting Tokushima and Osaka beginning Jan. 8, 2002.

Currently, JAC is the only airline connecting the two cities. It operates three round trips a day.

JAC launched the service in April 1992 with four round trips a day between the two cities.

However, after the opening of the highway bridge connecting Kobe and Naruto in Tokushima Prefecture in 1998, the airline was forced to compete with highway bus services, which cost less than half the price of JAC's flight.
