A man fired blanks from a replica pistol and shouted threats against Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on Thursday at the Tokyo District Court in Chiyoda Ward, police said.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with intrusion. The man, who identified himself as a 58-year-old taxi driver, said he was a creditor to a bankrupt firm and had unsuccessfully appealed his case to the court, according to police.

"(I will) target Koizumi next," he was quoting as saying.

According to police, he entered the court's clerical section on the 13th floor and fired the replica pistol. No one was hurt during the incident.
