Japan has granted 600 million yen to increase food production in Sri Lanka, the largest annual grant ever by a single donor for agricultural support, the Sri Lankan government said Wednesday.

A news release said the grant, under the Japanese government’s food production program to increase food production in developing countries, will be used to buy fertilizer, agricultural machinery and equipment.
