Japan has granted 600 million yen to increase food production in Sri Lanka, the largest annual grant ever by a single donor for agricultural support, the Sri Lankan government said Wednesday.
A news release said the grant, under the Japanese government's food production program to increase food production in developing countries, will be used to buy fertilizer, agricultural machinery and equipment.
The agreement covering the grant requires that Sri Lanka pay two-thirds of the value of goods imported under it.
