The eldest son of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi intends to debut in show business, joining an entertainment production company, industry sources said Wednesday.

Kotaro Koizumi, 23, a student at a private Tokyo university, will join Izawa Office Co. in Tokyo, which is under a major entertainment production company. The decision was made Tuesday, the sources said.

The decision was in line with his desire to enter the business, the sources said, but his entertainment genre has yet to be decided.

Popular entertainers and TV celebrities such as the Drifters and Ayumi Ishida belong to the agency.

The prime minister is divorced and the father of three sons. He raised the first two sons by himself after his divorce from his wife, who was six months pregnant with their third son at the time. She brought up the third son by herself.
