A 51-year-old Japanese man who was on vacation died in a motor vehicle accident on Sydney's northern outskirts on Tuesday, New South Wales police said.
The Japanese consul general identified the man as Kunimasa Nakamura from Mie Prefecture.
Police said Nakamura was not wearing a seat belt when his vehicle collided with a parked semi-trailer in the breakdown lane of the F3 freeway near Mount Colah at 1:05 a.m.
Despite the attempts of an ambulance crew to revive him, Nakamura died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.
Nakamura had been vacationing on the New South Wales coast just north of Sydney, police said.
