PHILADELPHIA -- Mika Maeda, a 16-year-old high school student from Kanagawa Prefecture, made her journalistic debut last week here at the Republican National Convention.
After arriving in this former U.S. capital late last month, Maeda busied herself interviewing such dignitaries as former White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry and former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich as well as Republican delegates and nongovernmental organization leaders.
"I am eager to get a job at a news organization after graduating from university. This experience is very important because I'm sure it will help me achieve that goal," said Maeda, a freshman at Keio Shonan Fujisawa Senior High School.
