The rainy season has ended in Okinawa Prefecture and in the Amami Islands, off Kagoshima Prefecture, the Meteorological Agency said Tuesday. The season ended in Okinawa, Japan's southernmost island prefecture, three days earlier than usual. In Amami it ended eight days earlier than average, the agency said.

The rain front has moved northward toward Kyushu, the agency said.

Okinawa received its average amount of rainfall during the rainy season, which began there May 19, while Amami received slightly more rain than usual, the agency said.
