OSAKA -- Former Itoman Corp. President Yoshihiko Kawamura and former Executive Director Suemitsu Ito were sentenced Thursday to prison terms of seven and 10 years, respectively, for aggravated breach of trust and other charges in connection with the multibillion-yen scandal that rocked the midsize trading house in the early 1990s.

The Osaka District Court found Kawamura, 74, guilty of all five charges brought against him, and Ito, 54, guilty of all six charges.

The Osaka District Public Prosecutor's Office had demanded a 10-year prison term for Kawamura and a 12-year sentence for Ito.
