The 15-year-old junior high school student arrested Monday after trying to stab a bicycle patrolman and steal his pistol has told investigators the attack was premeditated, police sources said Tuesday.
The boy, who was not named because he is a minor, reportedly said he had been wandering around home Jan. 24 with the intention of stealing a police officer's gun, but failed to spot one.
The boy was turned over to prosecutors Tuesday, who may charge him with attempted murder and robbery. A request by prosecutors to have the boy detained for 10 days at the Tokyo Detention House has been approved by the Tokyo District Court.
