Dining with the dinosaurs

A T. rex, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor and other dinosaurs welcome children visiting the Rihga Royal Hotel Tokyo this summer in a diorama of the dinosaur world set up in the hotel lobby. More than 30 finely detailed miniature dinosaurs, made by German figure maker Schleich, come together in the diorama for the “Dinosaur Festa,” which runs through Sept. 30.

During the event, Dining Ferio on the first floor offers children a dinosaur-themed plate for ¥1,600, featuring dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets and beef on the bone. For adults, there is a dish of curry and rice topped with a scotch egg and a sausage on a bone for adults for ¥2,400. Both plates come with a small dinosaur figure.

The hotel is also offering a “Dinosaur Stay” plan, which is a stay in a 49 square-meter junior suite for ¥10,000 per person, and in a deluxe floor twin for ¥11,000 to ¥14,500 per person on weekdays. Guests will also receive a dinosaur figurine with the plan. An additional charge of ¥3,000 is required for Friday stays, ¥5,000 on days before holidays and ¥8,000 to stay between Sept. 19 and 22.

The Rihga Royal Hotel Tokyo is seven minutes from Waseda Station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line or 10 minutes on the hotel’s shuttle bus from Takadanobaba Station. For more information or reservations, call 03-5285-1121, or visit www.rihga.com/tokyo .
