SAS Plus inaugural sale

SAS is offering its first discount sale for the SAS Plus seat, through March 30.

SAS Plus is the airline’s premium economy class, which allows customers to have several extra services, including more luggage, more seat space and use of the airline’s lounges at airports around the world.

For the campaign, a round-trip SAS Plus ticket between Tokyo (Narita International Airport) and over 80 destinations in Europe is available beginning at ¥216,270, including taxes and surcharge.

For example, a ticket to Berlin is offered at ¥238,670 and one to Paris is offered at ¥234,430.

Departure must be before March 31, with return before April 10.

Garuda to join SkyTeam

Garuda Indonesia is to formally enter the SkyTeam alliance March 5.

The carrier will become SkyTeam’s 20th airline and the second member in Southeast Asia, after Vietnam Airlines.

Garuda currently flies to six SkyTeam hubs — Seoul, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei and Amsterdam. It is also due to start flights between Gatwick and Jakarta in May 2014.

Garuda CEO Emirsyah Satar said, “Joining SkyTeam marks another significant milestone in the company’s development, as we are now entering the stage of being a global player.

“This is part of our strategy to extend our network worldwide while at the same time improving our service.”

Hong Kong trip on Cathay

Cathay Pacific Holidays Japan, Cathay Pacific Airways’ subsidiary travel agency in Japan, is holding a special New Year’s campaign and offering tickets to Hong Kong at special prices, starting from ¥38,400, through March 24.

The agency is offering the two-day, three night trip between Japan and Hong Kong, with seating in Cathay Pacific’s premium economy class seats, which offer wider seats than the normal economy class seats and customers can also enjoy express check-in upon arrival at the airport without having to wait in line.

As for accommodations, customers can choose from eight levels, ranging from standard to luxurious, at a variety of hotels in Hong Kong, including the ibis Hong Kong Central & Sheung Wan hotel, the Kowloon Shangri-La Hong Kong and the InterContinental Hong Kong.
