Hawaiian food at JAL, Okura hotels

Through August, Okura Hotels and Resorts and its group company JAL Hotels Co. are collaborating to hold a summer Hawaiian gourmet fair, featuring special menus from member hotels Kahala Hotel and Resort in Honolulu and Makena Beach and Golf Resort in Maui.

Supported by Hawaii Tourism Japan, the fair is available at restaurants at select Okura, JAL and Nikko hotels, such as those in Sapporo; Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture; Naha, Okinawa Prefecture; and Ebina, Kanagawa Prefecture.

In the Tokyo area, Hotel JAL City Tamachi Tokyo is offering a special buffet for lunch and dinner at the hotel’s first-floor restaurant, Brasserie Gardenear Pisces, on weekends and holidays through Aug. 26.

During the fair, a special present campaign is being held. Accommodation vouchers for two to each hotel in Hawaii with round-trip tickets for two on Japan Airlines are among the prizes that can be won. Eataly opens restaurant in Yokohama

Eataly Japan, an Italian food and wine importer and retailer, will open its 11th branch in the Yokohama Porta shopping center on Aug. 4.

With its main store in Turin, Italy, Eataly offers authentic Italian products, including a range of wines that are purchased directly from producers in Italy. The company’s stated aim is to let all people around the world know about Italy’s rich food culture.

Within Eataly Yokohama is the Il Marin restaurant, modeled on its restaurant in Genoa, Italy, with some of the interior decorations and food products imported from Italy. The restaurant offers authentic Genoese cuisine prepared by a chef who has worked at the Michelin-starred restaurant Guido in Pollenzo, Italy.

In addition to the restaurant, the Eataly Yokohama store has an Italian products market selling such items as pasta, premium olive oil and balsamic vinegar, a cafe and bar called Vergnano and a gelato shop called Venchi.
