The Peninsula Tokyo is holding a summer promotion at each of its restaurants, offering special menus to maintain one’s stamina during the hot season as well as a variety of cool desserts, through Aug. 31.
At The Peninsula Boutique and Cafe on the hotel’s first basement floor, executive pastry chef Shigeru Nojima introduces a special dessert plate featuring homemade ice cream and sherbet.
The plate offers a range of desserts to help cool the body, such as a mini soft-serve ice cream, fruit cupcake, jelly, ice cream and sherbet of the day, and comes with coffee or tea.
The plate is available at ¥2,000 including tax, but subject to a service charge.
Also through Aug. 31, the boutique’s outdoor cafe on Naka-dori is offering a glass of beer at ¥500 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Tokyo Bay fireworks seat package
One of Tokyo’s most popular and biggest annual features of summer is the Tokyo Bay Grand Fireworks Festival, to be held on Aug. 11 this year.
In preparation for the event, the Hotel Nikko Tokyo in the Odaiba area will allow guests to have a grandstand view of the fireworks through a special plan, for which reservations are being taken now. Guests can enjoy the fireworks display from the hotel’s special seats without being among the crowds.
The hotel offers two types of accommodation plans. Plan A includes special viewing seats, dinner and breakfast from ¥82,000 for double occupancy. Plan B offers a room with a bay view, dinner and breakfast from ¥135,000 for double occupancy.
Also, the hotel has special dinner plans at each of its restaurants.

Artistic chocolate comes to Tokyo
The Hilton Tokyo is inviting the 2011 Pastry Chef of the Year, Janice Wong, for its special chocolate fair, Chocolat Art Fair by Janice Wong, at the hotel’s Marble Lounge, through the end of June.
Wong is the owner of 2am:dessertbar, a popular pastry shop in Singapore. After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in France, Wong worked at some of the most cutting-edge restaurants in the world, ranging from Melbourne, Australia’s Fenix to Singapore’s Les Amis, to Europe’s top patisseries such as Pierre Herme and Oriol Balaguer.
During the fair, guests can sample more than 40 stylish chocolate creations, which combine the aesthetics of contemporary art while maximizing flavors and providing innovative textures.
Through June 10, Wong will be in the hotel’s kitchen.
The fair opens 2:30-6 p.m., and entry is ¥4,200 per adult and ¥2,750 per child, including tax and a service charge.
Also, on June 8, in collaboration with master chef Stephane Gaborieau of the hotel’s Le Pergolese restaurant, a special dinner will be offered limited to 40 people.
