The Hyatt Regency Tokyo is featuring Italian food, wine and culture at an Italia Fair through Nov. 30.
Five kinds each of white and red Italian wine are available for ¥500 per glass (usually from ¥900) at the Caffe Italian-style restaurant on the hotel’s lobby floor during the fair. From Nov. 2 to 30, North Italian dishes are featured a la carte (from ¥1,500) and in lunch and dinner set menus. Vino Novello, the new Italian wine of the year, will be served Nov. 6, its official release day. Caffe is open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
From Nov. 5 to 30, an Alfa Spider, Italian carmaker Alfa Romeo Automobiles’ convertible, will be displayed in the atrium lobby. The regular charity concert held in the hotel’s lobby will feature Italian songs from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 27.

Shichi-Go-San at the Cerulean
For Nov. 15, Shichi-Go-San (7-5-3), the traditional Japanese family event that celebrates the healthy growth of 3-, 5- and 7-year-old children, the Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel is offering family lunch plans through Nov. 29.
There are two plans: for four adults and one child (Kogiku Course, ¥70,000); or six adults and one child (Momiji Course, ¥120,000) — to enjoy a private meal in the hotel’s banquet room or in a private room at its French, Chinese or Japanese restaurants.
The Kogiku Course includes a child’s studio photo, while the Momiji Course includes a child’s photo and a family photo. Prices also include flower decorations. The courses are available from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Joe’s Shanghai N.Y. open in Tokyo
New York’s popular Joe’s Shanghai Restaurant opened its first overseas outlet in the Ikebukuro Sunshine City complex in Tokyo last month.
The modern Chinese restaurant, first founded in 1994 in New York’s Chinatown, is well known for its special soup dumplings, or xiao long bao, and has earned awards from The New York Times Restaurant Guide, Zagat Survey and many other gourmet magazines, including Japanese publications.
The new restaurant in Tokyo, named Joe’s Shanghai New York, is on the 59th floor of the Sunshine 60 building and offers the acclaimed crabmeat soup dumplings (¥980) and other modern Shanghai cuisine dishes in a stylish and luxurious atmosphere accompanied by magnificent views of the Tokyo metropolis.
There are three lunch courses (starting from ¥1,500) and a dinner course (from ¥5,000), as well as a wide variety of a la carte selections.
The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
