The Ritz Carlton Tokyo will feature the products of three of France’s leading brands — Bollinger, Chanson and Rougie — at the hotel’s French restaurant, Forty Five, during a two-week France Fair.

From Oct. 17 to 31, a special dinner course using Rougie products, such as its acclaimed truffles and foie gras, will be served with a glass of Bollinger champagne for ¥18,800. Premium Chanson Burgundy wines can be ordered separately to complement the dishes.

On Oct. 27, Rougie’s Export Manager Guy de Saint Laurent and Chanson President Gilles de Courcel will be on hand to present their products. The dinner event, starting at 7 p.m., is ¥25,000, including Bollinger champagne and Chanson wines paired with course dishes.

Halloween buffet

The ANA InterContinental Hotel Tokyo will serve a Happy Halloween Dinner Buffet from Oct. 24 to Nov. 1.

Cascade Cafe on the second floor will be decorated with jack-o’-lanterns, and there’ll be uniquely named selections on the menu, such as witch’s special soup, devil’s potatoes, mummy-style meatloaf and fried bat (fried chicken in portions shaped like bats), among some 100 kinds of dishes.

The buffet is free for 4- to 8-year-olds wearing Halloween costumes, and adults accompanying those children will get a 20 percent discount. Children will receive souvenirs to take home, too.

The buffet is available from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. It costs ¥7,000 for adults, ¥5,600 for those over 65 and ¥3,500 for children aged 4 to 8.

Traditional flavors from Thailand

The Swissotel Nankai Osaka will hold a Thai Food Fair from Oct. 23 to Nov. 1 at the sixth-floor Cafe Swiss, under the direction of Jamnong Nirungsan (pictured), executive sous-chef of the Swissotel Nai Lert Park in Bangkok and president of the Thai Chefs Association.

Nirungsan’s traditional Thai dishes, characterized by the use of a variety of herbs and spices, such as tom yum goong (Thai prawn soup) and green curry, can be enjoyed buffet style. At the dinner buffet, pad Thai (Thai-style stir-fried rice noodles) will be cooked in front of diners in the “action kitchen.”

During the fair period, there will be a lottery with a two-night stay for two at the Swissotel Nai Lert Park and round-trip Thai Airways tickets as the grand prize.

The lunch buffet is available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs ¥3,500 for adults and ¥2,000 for children; the dinner buffet is available from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is ¥4,000 and ¥2,100.
