New Year’s Buffet in Kobe

The Crowne Plaza Kobe will serve a New Year’s Buffet in its 10th-floor ballroom from Jan. 1 to 3.

Seafood such as crab, tuna, salmon and scallops, as well as other seasonal ingredients, will be cooked in front of diners at a “Kitchen Stadium” in the center of the room. Staff will also show off their skill at carving roast beef.

Responding to reviews from customers who have enjoyed the buffet in the past, popular favorites such as a seafood rice bowl using Mita rice from Hyogo Prefecture, domestic beef teppanyaki and freshly made Oku-izumo buckwheat noodles from Shimane Prefecture will return to the lineup. Guests can even help make the noodles themselves.

There will be traditional New Year’s rituals, such as kagami- biraki (cutting a rice cake) and rice-cake pounding, a cappella singing and a corner where kids can enjoy games often seen at traditional New Year’s festivals, such as target shooting.

The buffet is available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and costs ¥7,500 for adults, ¥6,500 for seniors (over 65), ¥4,000 for elementary school children, and ¥2,000 for those aged between 4 and 6.
