Sakura Tulip Festival 2020

The event has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Sure, everyone loves sakura (cherry blossoms), but a little floral variety never hurt anyone, and the city of Sakura, Chiba Prefecture, offers more than the spring pastime of admiring its namesake flower. From April 1 to 26, you can take in the vibrant beauty of an eyeful of tulips at Sakura Furusato Square.

As you walk through the field of 800,000 tulips, you will be transported to the Netherlands thanks to a windmill and live performances by an organ grinder, who will entertain visitors with his music on Saturdays and Sundays. (Yuki Yamauchi)

In line with the nationwide state of emergency declared on April 16, the government is strongly requesting that residents stay at home whenever possible and refrain from visiting bars, restaurants, music venues and other public spaces.
