Fantastic Wagasa Night

The 1,300-year history of Daisenji temple, located on Mount Daisen in Tottori Prefecture, was celebrated last year through this summer, when the building and its vicinity were adorned with around 270 illuminated wagasa (Japanese umbrellas) and lanterns.

The celebration will last a little longer, as its elegant lights are scheduled to return from Oct. 20 to 22.

As well as enjoying the beauty of Fantastic Wagasa Night, visitors have the chance to carry a wagasa and have their photo taken at a special spot created by the organizers. (Yuki Yamauchi)
