Yokohama Otomatsuri

For the next two months, Yokohama will be full of music as the triennial music festival, Yokohama Otomatsuri, takes over the city with more than 300 programs.

Some of the concerts will offer free entry, even for performances by well-known acts and musicians such as dance performance group Tokyo Gegegay on Sept. 21 and traditional hichiriki flute player Hideki Togi on Sept. 28.

Meanwhile, through a joint initiative with the U.K., the festival will host British performing arts companies including The Royal Opera, The Band of the Grenadier Guards and more. (Yuki Yamauchi)
