Astrology has been practiced for thousands of years, often with 10 major celestial bodies — the sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto — being used to represent different aspects of human character. A sense of self and independence, for example, are associated with the sun, while intelligence and communication are linked to Mercury.
This exhibition guides visitors through 60 modern and contemporary works by categorizing the pieces using keywords associated with the 10 celestial bodies' personality traits.
Highlights include "Man, mustache, navel" (1928-29) by Jean Arp, "White Coat" (2009) by Kyoto Murase and Chiharu Shiota's "Dialogue with Absence" (2009). (Yukari Tanaka)
