Osaka: Tenjin Matsuri

Festival, with over a 1,000-year history, counted as one of the three grandest festivals in Japan. This festival features Horen on the sacred boat, going upstream on Okawa River, followed by a fleet of a hundred of boats decorated with lighted lanterns.

Schedule & Key events:
● July 25
from 3:30 p.m.: Parade of Horen from the shrine to Tenjinbashi Bridge
6 p.m.-9 p.m. Parade of Horen on the river
7:30 p.m.-8:50 p.m. Fireworks display over the river (5,000 fireworks)

Access:
Osaka Tenman-gu Shrine : (1) Tanimachi Subway Line to Minami-Morimachi Sta. (Exit 4), and then walk 5 min. (2) JR Tozai Line to Osaka Tenmangu Sta. (Exit 3), and then walk 5 min.
