Kyoto: Takekiri-Eshiki

In this bamboo-cutting ceremony, two groups of four men in white robes compete against each other in quickly cutting each long bamboo pole (likened to a big serpent) into six pieces with sharp blades.

Access:
From JR Kyoto Station, take municipal bus No. 17 to Demachi-yanagi Bus Stop, and change to Eizan Kurama Line to Kurama Station From there, (1) walk 30 min. (2) take cablecar to Tahoto Station (2min.), and then walk 10 min.
